RCD Installation & Testing
RCD Installation & Testing (Safety Switches)
An RCD — a safety switch — is the device that saves lives when someone touches a live conductor or an appliance faults to earth. Western Australia requires at least two RCDs protecting every power and lighting circuit before a home is sold, rented or leased.
We install RCDs and RCBOs, test existing ones for correct trip time and trip current, and issue documented results for landlords, property managers and commercial sites.

Questions
RCD Installation & Testing — common questions
How many RCDs do I need in WA?
A minimum of two, and together they must protect all lighting and power circuits in the home.
How often should RCDs be tested?
Press the test button yourself every three months. Have them instrument-tested by an electrician every two years, or annually for rentals and commercial sites.
Why does my RCD trip randomly?
Usually a faulty appliance or moisture in an outdoor circuit. We isolate the cause rather than just resetting it.
