Smoke Alarms
Smoke Alarm Installation & Replacement
WA law requires working, mains-powered smoke alarms no more than ten years old in homes being sold, rented or transferred. Building and Energy and DFES also recommend replacing every smoke alarm at the ten-year mark — check the date stamped on the base of yours.
We install and interconnect hardwired photoelectric alarms, replace expired units, and sort out the ones that chirp at 3am. Common job for us in Success, Atwell and Aubin Grove where the original builder alarms from the mid-2000s are now well past their date.

Questions
Smoke Alarms — common questions
Can I just use battery smoke alarms?
Not if you're selling or renting the property in WA — mains-powered photoelectric alarms are required.
Why does my alarm chirp at night?
Usually a flat back-up battery, or an alarm past its ten-year life. Temperature drops overnight make a marginal battery show itself.
Do alarms need to be interconnected?
Interconnection is required in new residential buildings with multiple alarms. In an existing home we assess what applies and can interconnect compatible alarms so one alarm sounding triggers them all.
